Mission

MYDC’s mission is to create various individual, peer and family oriented programs that will allow self-expression while Helping to Understand, Develop and Stimulate the Minds of our Youth. 

Philosophy

MYDC believes providing a safe environment for prevention and intervention activities and initiatives that focus on the complete family unit, along with sound guidance, structure, and support, youth will engage in positive behavior modification and self-expectations, which will contribute to youth becoming upstanding citizens, contributors to the world, and leaders of tomorrow.

 Vision

MYDC’s vision is to empower disadvantaged, at risk youth with the necessary tools to increase self-awareness and self-esteem which will afford them an opportunity to acquire a better understanding of people and their surroundings, as they become independent leaders in society.

Purpose & Goals

  • Provide a safe and healthy environment for teenagers and young adults to discuss everyday life issues not limited to parent-child conflict, peer pressure, gang violence, bullying, self-esteem, depression, anger management, alcohol & substance abuse, domestic violence, bereavement, teen parenting, sex, sex abuse and sexuality
  • Boost behavioral standards at school, home and throughout the community to increase junior high school and high school graduation rates while decreasing youth recidivism rates
  • Provide creative and critical thinking techniques to increase self-esteem, self-respect and leadership qualities which in turn will foster positive decision making skills
  • Promote positive and effective family communication and interactions
  • Promote community awareness and the importance of giving back by engaging in various voluntary community projects.
