MYDC has collaborated with The South Ozone Park Beacon to bring our youth a remarkable day of inspiration, motivation, careers, choices, dreams and so much more as we start the new year. 2010 will only be the stepping stone for so many youth. The opportunity will be provided; the motivation and inspiration will be provided and the information will be provided.
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2009 - GANG AWARENESS
Facilitators Sean "Dino" Johnson and Karriem Watts engaged 30 of our youth in conversation about GANG AWARENESS. In a round group discussion, we tackled gang related issues such as: peer pressure (negative and positive); the difference between being a leader and a follower; the definition of the word "gang" and the fact that not all gangs are negative; how many of our youth were approached to be in a gang and how they handled the situation; how our choices today affect the rest of our lives; and much more.
