The Misunderstood Youth Development Center (MYDC) is a 501c3 youth non-profit organization founded in 2005 in the state of New York by Terryl Ebony De Mendonca. MYDC is a prevention / intervention service center for youth ages 8-24.
MYDC is recognized for its unique program model that weds direct services and policy advocacy to improve the life outcomes of disadvantaged youth. Unlike other service organizations that focus mainly on prevention and activities, MYDC distinguishes itself by focusing on prevention and intervention; it employs social development behavior modification and consequential thinking techniques. These techniques allow the youth to imagine and create a better foundation for their future. The strength of our intervention is the depth of engagement we have with each youth.
MYDC intends for all of its programs to further its charitable purpose of helping to understand, develop and stimulate the minds of our youth. MYDC’s staff and volunteers devote 100% of their human resources to planning and supporting its programming.
